About IPSM Approach
IPSM Approach (Integrated Pronunciation, Spelling and Meaning) is an open, method-based approach to English vocabulary learning. It is published openly at lingose.com in 10 languages and released under the MIT license.
The method is built on the observation that memorizing an English word is, at its core, the process of linking three attributes — pronunciation, spelling, and meaning. IPSM makes that linkage explicit by:
- annotating phonemes so that pronunciation rules become visible in the spelling (IPS),
- segmenting morphemes so that word-formation rules and core roots are exposed (ISM),
- and connecting the rhythm of phonemes to meaning (IPM).
Coverage
The lexicon covers 6,099 English words grouped into 2,806 root-lemma families. The full method is presented across 9 chapters, from IPS symbols and notation through the three unifying approaches.
